Otello Mei nasce vive e lavora a Civita Castellana , una cittadina colma di storia e arte Etrusca e Falisca. La bellezza dell' incisione della gemma gliela fece conoscere suo padre (Plinius) innamorato dell' archeologia,bravo ceramista e bravissimo imitatore di opere Etrusche . Fin dall' infanzia Otello seguiva il padre nelle sue ricerche e lo accompagnava a visitare molti musei portando a casa libri specializzati. Cosi fin da piccolino iniziando dapprima a guardare e poi affascinato sempre di piu' da quell' arte , cominicio' proprio come il suo amato padre, a riprodurre con tanta particolare e antica bellezza quelle opere che per lui erano in assoluto le piu' affascinanti.Otello Mei was born in Civita Castellana where he lives and works.This little city is full of history of Etruscan and Falisco art. He knew the beauty of engraving gems trough his father (Plinius) that was in love with archeology. He was also a good ceramist and very clever Etruscan works' imitator. Since childhood Otello was following hisfather in his searches and was going with him to visit many museums bringing back home specialized books. He started to wacht , already when he was a kid, and was ever more fascinated from that art.Just like his beloved father , he begane to reproduce those works , that he considered the most enchanting and with so much particular and ancient beauty.
